The Feldenkrais Method
The Feldenkrais Method is somatic education that uses gentle movement lessons and directed attention to improve daily movement and enhance human action.
We have two modalities for teaching this movement system. The one-on-one approach is called Functional Integration-which are custom-designed to meet each individual’s need. Lessons last one hour and are done fully clothed.
The second modality is a group lesson, called Awareness Through Movement, lasting 30 to 60 minutes, in which the practitioner verbally directs the class through interesting and fun movement sequences. Movements are based on ordinary activities such as reaching or turning.
CranioSacral Therapy
What is CranioSacral Therapy?
The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face, and mouth, which make up the cranium, down to the sacrum, or tailbone area.
Since this vital system influences the development and performance of the brain and spinal cord, an imbalance or restriction in it could potentially cause any number of sensory, motor or neurological disabilities.
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle method of detection and correction that encourages your own natural healing mechanisms to dissipate negative effects of stress on your nervous system.
Macrobiotic Cooking
Laura is a trained Macrobiotic Cook and has practiced this art form since 1977. She has taken cooking classes from Aveline Kushi , Cornellia Aihara, and Charlotte Palumbo of the Chicago East West Center. Laura has been an associate in Cooking Services that cook medicinally for those with severe cancer. She has also had a private cooking business and school called "It's Only Natural", cooking for those too busy to learn the form and do their own cooking. She now teaches at the University of Wisconsin Parkside, Roots and Legends, and Privately.
